MISS ASIA LOS ANGELES 2012: Queen Christina Lee

Miss Christina Lee is the 2012 Miss Asia Los Angeles. She was born in Korea, and raised in Vancouver, Canada and Los Angeles, California, and proudly represents her Korean community. She is fluent in Korean, English, and is currently learning Mandarin. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, running, travelling and baking. In addition, she loves sky diving, ice skating, rafting, and go-kart racing. Her motto in life is to try everything you want because life is too short to waste. Throughout highschool she was involved in Track and field and Cross Country, which helped her see the importance of endurance. She is an 18 year old University of California, Davis, student majoring in Communication and Economics.  Upon graduating, she wants to continue her education with a Master’s in Business Administration.
Her platform is Volunteerism. Her dedication in community service in the past includes Key Club International, FBLA, Global Poverty Fighter, American Red Cross Soup Kitchen, Police Department, St. Jude Hospital, CHOC Hospital and Church afterschool services.
She is now involved with Make-A-Wish Foundation and Susan G. Komen Foundation, which are philanthropic foundations that her sorority greatly supports. Her favorite quote from Mother Teresa, her greatest role model, is
“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.”
She finds that the more she tries new experiences, the easier each risk becomes. Each one of us has only one lifetime, one chance to really change something in this world, and she wants to live hers to the fullest. She knows that the higher she sets her bar, the higher her eventual achievement, whether she can fulfill every dream or not. Once a shy and uncertain little girl, she now defines herself by her eagerness to seize each new opportunity. She is ready to undertake any new challenge. In college and for the rest of her life, she will always be on this journey to explore everything that life has to offer.
Not only is she thrilled and honored to be on board as Miss Asia Los Angeles, but she is ready to take this exciting journey in empowering young women in Los Angeles area and California to share and motivate others to volunteer.
